My name is Mark Carlton. A reader recently asked me to write something about myself. This was my brief exercise in self-definition: “I am a Christian. This is my identity. I am a man. I’m 57 years old. My wife Pam and I have been married for 35 years. We have two children. Our son is an attorney. He and his wife have three sons. Our Daughter is a teacher.
I have been a pastor for 34 years. I like to read; mainly history, apologetics and philosophy. I have been involved in the fine arts. I sing, paint and sculpt. If you would like to contact me my email address is: ml_carlton@yahoo.com
Just wanted to let you know “I was here”. Headed to Wales on Sunday (26 Oct) for my “viva voce” (thesis defense). Talk to you when I get back.

Rick, I look forward to your contributions. Will I have to call you Dr. Shenk when you return from Wales?

Diane, I have never been to Royal Oak. I hope that nothing I have said has hurt your Mark Carlton’s good reputation.

Good thing you’re not from Royal Oak Mark! We’d be too close for comfort!
I hope you’re doing well.

On the contrary, Hope. I wish we lived closer. I would love to be able to talk to you in depth. You ask good questions that deserve an answer. But some of your questions also require some time and just short email and postings don’t do them justice. But I think if we could talk for extended periods I could answer at least some of your questions. It is good to be back in touch with you.
I am doing well and I hope (no pun) you are too.

Yes, it would be nice to speak with you in person about these things. I’m sure it would be very helpful and fun.
I was merely joking.

Hey Mark, just dropped by to see what’s going on and wanted to say that I like the new look. I think this one is easier on the eyes to read (better contrast).
Grace and peace be with you.

Thanks, Christopher. I’m going to slowly get back into blogging — a post a week — and see how it goes.

Hello mr Carlton I have read your articles with great interest. I have to ask you a question though. Are you a member of the website Conservipedia?

No, I’m not a member of Conservapedia, though I’ve noted that Conservapedia has linked to me. I don’t really know how I would become a member. Also, feel free to call me, Mark.

ah okay. I was only wondering. I really love your articles on Christian Epistimology. Very enlightning. I also am wondering where you got that short story with an explanation of evil! That was certainly interesting!

Thanks, Matthew. I’m not sure which story you are referring to, if it is the one about the student talking to his professor, someone forwarded it to me. I don’t normally read them but the basic argument in this one drew me in.

Yes thats the one I’m reffering to! I’ve tried it a bit and its actually given me some headway in some very difficult “discussions”.

Good, I’m glad to hear that the argument is working. A friend of mine just received his PhD. His dissertation was on the problem of pain and suffering. He sent me a bound copy of it. I think his argument is unique and I will be either summarizing it or, perhaps, asking him to write a few posts on it. I think you will find it a very helpful approach.

Hello Mark,
Since English is my second language I found your articles about “An Ancient Appeal to an Unknown God”. Yes, I have Don Richardson’s book and it is very interesting to read! I read Part 2, What about those who have never heard of Jesus?. Where is Part 1? I couldn’t find it.
Thank you very much.
